OviPalvelin on pääsynvalvon­nan ydin. Se ohjaa ovien moninaisia toi­mintoja, hoitaa pääsyoikeudet, tietoturvat ja -liikenteet. Pieni itsenäinen laite, sisällään laa­jat ohjelmistot, tietokan­nat, tapahtuma lokit ja paljon muuta.

OviPalvelin hyödyntää IT-infraa; In­ternet, LAN, selai­met, palomuurit, tieto­turva, pilvipalvelut, jne. Käyttäjien tai ovien mää­rillä ei ole rajoja, eikä etäisyyksilläk­ään.

Geneerisiä osajärjes­telmiä luodaan nimeämällä ovia tiimien jäseniksi. Itse­näinen tiimi hoitaa laajan ja hajautetunkin kohteen.
